Sashay into Summer: Outdoor Dancing Around the City

Join us Wednesdays at 7 pm for outdoor summer dancing, weather permitting. We’ll dance at a variety of outdoor spaces around the city. Outdoor dancing is open to all & sundry. There is no charge for these events.

Bring water to drink, comfortable shoes, a lawn chair if you want to take a break and perhaps mosquito repellent. Also bring a friend!

Check this space every week to see where we will be dancing, or if the dancing has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

English Country Dance is a living tradition of social folk dance with roots that go back to Elizabeth I. Village Green has been bringing English dancing to Winnipeg since 1975. We dance historic dances that were first written down in the 1650s, and dances that are written by our own members every year. We’d love for you to join us.

We meet on Wednesday evenings at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave.. We learn traditional and historic dances, old and new, and get a chance to practice them. Each year we have two terms–fall and winter. There’s a big celebratory dance with live music at the end of each one, and a smaller one part-way through.

– No dance experience is necessary.
– Bring a friend, or just yourself.
– Wear comfortable, flat-soled shoes.
– A moderate level of fitness is required. (Can you run up a flight or two of stairs without difficulty, hop on one foot 5 times, switch feet and 5 hops on that foot?)
